The Russian winter

This is the one of the  most used free shawl patterns on Ravelry.

Originally it is from Lion Brand LB Collection OnlinePatterns -South Bay Shawlette. And I had to make it.

I know, I don't need more shawls and hats, but I couldn't resist.

This is so simple and easy project. I finished it in one day.

The pattern is written for advanced intermediate skill level but I think that advanced beginner can manage it. Quick and simple.

If you use mohair yarn as I did, the shawlette will be so soft and light, like a snowflake.

Size: 60cm x113cm

Yarn: 1 skein = 546.0 yards (499.3m) 

 Angora Gold Simli –Alize

(75% Acrylic10% Mohair10% Wool5% Metallic)

Hook size: 4mm

I added silver glass beads at the border. 

The first association when I finished it was Russian winter. :)

I am a big fan of Russian composers and writers, but that is the other story.

Dmitri Shostakovich - Waltz No. 2

Embellished Basic Crochet Beanie

This is a simple pattern I often use for making beanies.

 

Size:head circumference 54-56cm (21,5-22 inches)

Finished measurements:52cm around and 19cm from the base to the top before stretching.

Materials:170m Bulky yarn

Crochet hooks size:5mm or size to obtain gauge

Gauge: 12 Dc’s= 10cm, 9 Rnds = 10cm

Stitches: 

Dc - double crochet

Sc - single crochet

Sl st – slip stitch

Ch – chain

Beanie crochet pattern:

Make Magic loop

Rnd 1: Ch 3(counts as first Dc), 9 Dc in a magic loop, join with a slip stitch in the top of ch3.  Pull tail to tight the bases.(10 st)  

Rnd 2: Ch 3, Dc in same spot as Ch, 2Dc in each stitch around, sl st to first Dc to join. (20 st) 

Rnd 3: Ch 3, 2Dc in next st, *Dc, 2Dc in next st * repeat *-* 9 times, sl st to join. (30st)

Rnd 4: Ch 3, Dc, 2Dc in next st, *2Dc, 2Dc in next st * repeat *-* 9 times, sl st to join. (40 st)

Rnd 5: Ch 3, 2Dc, 2Dc in next st,*3Dc, 2Dc in next st * repeat *-* 9 times, sl st to join. (50 st)

Rend 6: Ch 3, 3Dc, 2Dc in next st,*4Dc, 2Dc in next st * repeat *-* 9 times, sl st to join. (60 st)

Rnd 7-13: Ch 3, Dc in each stitch around, sl st to join.

Rnd 14: Ch 1, Sc in each stitch around, sl st to join, fasten off.

Simple flower pattern:
Rnd 1: Ch 2, 6 Sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join with sl st to first sc
Rnd 2: *Ch 2, 3Dc, Ch 2, sl st in the same sc, sl st to the next sc* repeat *-* 6 times.  Fasten off.

This is a really simple beanie pattern for beginners. With different flower
embellishment each beanie will be unique and special. For more flower patterns look here.

 You can add a pin at the back of flower so you  can replace it.

 The flower can be made in color of scarf or gloves.

 With some beads for festive and sparkly look.

Ruffled Lace Scarf

I finally took some pictures of the scarf I finished two weeks ago. It is matching scarf with the beret from my previous post.

The scarf/stole is designed   by Yasuko Sebata and published in Japanese book "Crochet Shawl & Stole & Vest".  I used 3 skins of gray yarn Lucija by Unitas (50% Wool 50% Acrylic), and 1 skin black/silver yarn Jelka by A.P.D.O.O. (72% Acrylic 28% Wool) Hook size: 2,5mm.

The pattern is very nice and easy. Ruffles on the edge makes scarf playful and romantic. Black and silver yarn gives it a touch of elegance. I am very satisfied with this pattern and I might use it a couple of times.
