Until 1990 Albania was an isolated country. Although this country is in my neighborhood, it was completely unknown to me. I knew they were very poor and covered with bunkers. This trip was an ideal opportunity to eliminate prejudices. Today Albania is a country full of contrast. I was pleasantly surprised. On the other hand, many things shocked me. What must be pointed out is still untouched nature, huge fields of olive trees and kilometers of sandy beaches. We visited Sarandë, Vlorë and Durrës, towns on the coast, which are developing rapidly thanks to tourism. The construction of apartments on the coast takes place incredibly quickly and infrastructure can’t stand it. Unfortunately, rapid construction has damaged the appearance of these cities, there are problems with water; buildings are not high quality... On the other side there are incredible natural beauties and extraordinary friendly and hospitable people of this small country. After this brief tour I can delightfully recommend this destination as something different and rare in Europe today.
